Arrows in slide show

First off, since WordPress changes its system about once a week without telling anyone what and why they have done and since their support is just being rude when getting questions, I hope that this is a forum where one might obtain some answers.

1) When I have logged in to my blog, I arrive at the Dashboard. There is a button there called Home. When I click this button, I once again arrive at the Dashboard. I also arrive at the Dashboard when clicking the button Dashboard. I would like to arrive at my blog as such when clicking Home. How do I manage this?

2) Earlier on, the arrows in my slide show disappeared if one clicked once outside the frame of said slide show. Now they don't. Is there a new way to make them disappear or is this yet another in the long line of inane, incomprehensible "improvements" from the offices of WordPress?
