WooCommerce 2.3: Product attribute pages now have pa_ in their URL. How to remove?

After upgrading to WooCommerce 2.3, product attribute URLs like http://ift.tt/1EQQFQc now only work as http://ift.tt/1H0DRpA.

(The staging site is running the latest WooCommerce release, the live site is still running 2.2.11. Staging has also has all plugins besides WooCommerce deactivated and is using 2012 for testing purposes.)

I don't see a way to revert this change or any mention of the change in the changelog. WooThemes support staff acknowledges the change, but hasn't provided any suggestions to use the old link style.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks!
